News and Announcements
Dear Oakridge Soccer Club families,
The last 8 weeks has been an incredibly difficult time for everyone with our world literally turned upside down in every sense of the word. We did not expect back in late February when we were sizing for uniforms that soccer would be put on hiatus indefinitely. To this day, even with the economy slowly coming back to life with strict social distancing requirements in place, we, as a society, are nowhere near ready to get back to what life use to be like.
Over the course of the last 4-6 weeks, the Oakridge Soccer Club (OSC) Executive Board has been meeting regularly to review the landscape based on the information that has been shared with us by the federal government, provincial government, Canada Soccer, Ontario Soccer (OS), Elgin Middlesex Soccer Association (EMSA), the various leagues we participate in, as well feedback from our volunteers. OS Player Registration dates continue to be pushed back, tournaments cancelled, and growing uncertainty from our community are all factors that impact how we operate as a community based, not for profit, competitive sports organization.
Therefore, after much discussion and in the best interests of our players, families, volunteers and our community, the Oakridge Soccer Club has made the decision to cancel the Summer 2020 Outdoor Season, effective immediately for all OSC registered players and volunteers.
As an Executive Board, we collectively believe that we cannot participate in team/group based sports with so many unknowns and it would not be socially responsible to expose our players & volunteers to any potential health risks. The liability is far too great and not worth the potential risk. While disappointing, the health & safety of our players & volunteers is first and foremost.
Full refunds will be issued to all registered players by a credit back to the credit card used for registration. Please allow 4-6 weeks for processing.
We sincerely hope that we will be able to get back on the field this fall/winter.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Team Building begins before the season starts. Meet the new and improved Oakridge BLAZE, a group of highly motivated athletes who have fun both on and off the pitch! This evening’s event took place at the Junction Climbing Center, where the girls were given the opportunity to show off their athletic prowess while cementing friendships. There were lots of laughs, encouragement, and helping of teammates as they tackled the various challenges presented. The connections made during this event will help the girls as they move into the Outdoor Season, where they will need to depend upon one another during training and games, and still be able to enjoy a laugh or two. Well done, ladies!
Special thanks to our wonderful Event Coordinator, Ms Heather Bell, and to all of the friendly staff at the Junction Climbing Center; this was an event that the girls will not soon forget!
Elf Gaby and Elf Maya of the Oakridge BLAZE volunteer their time at Christmas in the Village, a fun Community Event held the first Saturday of December, in Wortley Village. A great way to start off the Holiday Season!
The BLAZE hit the gym at Combine Fitness for the start of their Winter Fitness Training. There was a lot of hard work and fun to be had under the guidance of Fitness Coach Haley, and the smiles at the end of the night say it all. Well done ladies!

The BLAZE will be practising at least one evening during the week, and playing in the EMDSL 2019 INDOOR League (9v9, Tier 1) on Sundays, from October to March. The BLAZE is also looking to participate in a fun Intra-Club Futsal League on Saturdays, in lieu of a second practice, through the Oakridge Soccer Club. The BLAZE participated in this league last Winter, and found it to be fun, inexpensive, and great for player development!
The BLAZE usually participates in the BMO Scrooge Tournament each December, and may be participating in additional tournaments throughout the Winter Season, depending on player and parent interest.
If your daughter is interested in trying out for the Oakridge BLAZE, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include the name of the team your daughter last played for, and what position(s) she plays.
